Deprecated function remove_double_slashes()

"Deprecated function remove_double_slashes() called in system/expressionengine/third_party/perssonal/mod.perssonal.php on line 129"

Hi. I cannot run my site which makes a lot of use of your VERY USEFUL add on because it is not compatible with recent versions of EE. Im running 2.9.3 and it throws fatal errors.

Fatal error: Call to undefined method EE_Functions::remove_double_slashes() in .... /expressionengine/third_party/perssonal/mod.perssonal.php on line 129

I read up and tried the fix of replacing 'remove_double_slashes()' with 'reduce_double_slashes()' but this then throws more fatal errors. Can you help? I really hope so ;)
